The awards are a great way to discover other interesting educational work and resources, and this post will pick out a (very) few things which caught our eye. However, it's very much a matter of scratching the surface, so go to the awards site itself and start surfing...
- Anseo.net is nominated in the Best Educational Tech Support category, and Simon Lewis has written a post listing the various Irish nominations, including ourselves! Do vote for this very fine primary school site (an award winner last year for 'Head in the Clouds').
- Best Individual Tweeter: one of the best sources of educational ideas is Twitter (read our recent post on The Value of Twitter). There are lots of big hitters here, and it's very hard to choose one to support... we get lots of value in particular from @larryferlazzo @web20classroom @ShellTerrell @shannonmiller @chrisleach78 @cybraryman1 @esolcourses @johndavitt
- Best Class Blog: vote for Ms Leydon's Class from Our Lady of Mercy Primary School in Co Mayo!
- Best New Edublog: check our The Nerdy Teacher from Michigan...
- Best Teacher Edublog: this is a very competitive category, with a huge amount to explore. Our vote goes to the excellent Huff English from Dana Huff (read her interesting post here on the awards - there's always some debate about their competitive nature)
- Best Educational Use of a Social Network: this is easy for us - one of our (and no doubt 100s more) nominations - The English Companion, which was founded by Jim Burke two years ago today. Over 24,000 members support each other in their English teaching. (It won last year).
- Best Educational Use of a Virtual World: another very worthy Irish recommendation - The Mission V Project from Daynuv and Irish Gifted Kids.
Thanks for the vote! I am basically non-competitive, but I appreciate your kind words about my blog.
